Technical Director
Responsible for all computers, audio and visual equipment
Tournament Table Director
Arrange to have challenge & practice tables at Tournament (pick up &
drop off service where possible) Track location & ownership of tables, make
sure everything gets back to owners.
Food manager
Responsible for arranging for local pizza to be pre-ordered by teams as part
of fundraising for 2008 BHS FIRST Teams and food purchases on d Also responsible
for planning and providing food for volunteers. This includes: morning snack,
lunch, water and misc. snack items for the event volunteers.
Registration & Check-in Director
In charge of the team & volunteer check-in area. Is responsible for
planning and arranging materials to support check-in.
Trophies
Order trophies & plaques. Ensure trophies arrive at Tournament. Setup
& organize display for efficient delivery of awards.
Opening ceremony
Sing/play National Anthem to open event.
Photographers
Have digital camera. Record the day's activities. Pictures will may be
posted for later download by teams and used in a slide show.
Team Photographer
Have digital camera. Take pictures of the team and robot. Pictures will be
used by the judges to help during deliberations. Will also become part of photo
archive of event.
Videographers
Have digital camcorder. Record the day's activities, especially the robot
match
Judges
Review judge training material prior to event. Judges will:
• Interview teams
•
Determine how individual teams performed, assigning them a ranking or score for
their judged category
•
Determine the top ranked teams for their judging category
•
Work with judges of other categories to determine the Director’s Award winners
•
Share their notes on winning teams with the Head Judge for use in the Awards

Before Tournament: Learn the challenge rules, missions and scoring details.
During Tournament: Setup field, govern action, make judgment calls and record
performance.
Table Setup
Setup challenge tables Friday night. Helpful to have team coaches.
Setup (Friday)
Arrange Pit areas, presentation rooms. Make signs, cover gym floor. Setup Gym
with score tables, info tables, registration/check-in tables, tables for
challenge tables, trophy table, coffee station.
Setup (Saturday)
Help bring in challenge tables, setup food. Can combine with other jobs (e.g.
score table, information, registration, etc.)
Registration Table Attendant
The Registration Table Attendant will manage all activities at the
Registration Table, check-in teams and volunteers and hand out team packets
(shirts, medals, etc.). The Registration Table Attendant works under the
direction of the Volunteer Coordinator.
Score Table
Validate & enter scores, display rankings
Runners
Collect score sheets after matches, errands as needed (find core team member
for question, …)
Team Escorts/Queing
Escort teams to/from matches, research presentation and interviews as
needed.
Practice Table Boss
Help teams share the practice tables.
Judge Helper
Help head judge - make copies, etc. Escort teams to/from presentation rooms
& match, Help sort/organize Team information sheets so that judges have them
shortly after 9AM. Will have two copies of each team's info sheet. Need to
separate into two piles and order according to when appropriate interview will
happen.

Help during transition from regular matches to
Information Table Attendant
The Information Table Attendant will provide direction, assistance and
information to event volunteers, attendees and guests. The Information Table
Attendant works under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator.
VIP Ambassadors
VIP Ambassadors will escort VIPs around the event and help explain what's
happening in each area. Answer
questions about FIRST, FIRST Lego League, the 'Power' challenge and related
activities.
High School Student Volunteers
Photographers

Head Judge
Recruiting, training and overseeing all tournament judges.
Head Referee
The Head Referee is responsible for training, directing and supervising all
Referees. Oversees all scoring processes and procedures. Has final authority for
decisions regarding team scores.
Volunteer Coordinator
Recruits individuals to assist in the day's event.
Supervises all volunteers on Tournament day and provides training for
volunteers.
Facility Liaison
Arrange with Thompson for space, custodians
VIP/Media Coordinator
Invite media and VIPs to Tournament event. Create promotional materials to
distribute to media/VIPs at event. Arrange for ambassadors (escorts),
interviews, etc. as needed.
Fundraising Coordinator
Raise funds for the Tournament from community (businesses, foundations,
grants, etc.)
Fundraising Committee Member
Help Fundraising coordinator to raise funds for the Tournament from
community (businesses, foundations, grants, etc.)
Entertainment Director
Responsible for "entertainment" during event: Opening ceremony -
National Anthem Lunch - Pre-awards: Robotics demo
Emcee
Make announcements, introduce guest speakers, call matches, etc.
